Rollover Crash Shuts Down I-70

***UPDATE 6:50 P.M.***Columbia police confirm a Denver, CO man has died from injuries after he was thrown from a car that rolled on Interstate 70 near mile marker 131 around 10:20 a.m. Sunday62-year-old Everett Watson was the passenger in a 2001 Ford Ranger driven by his wife Linda.According to a news release Sunday evening, the car went off the road for unknown reasons before overcorrecting and flipping multiple times.Columbia police were investigating the accident Sunday night.***ORIGINAL STORY***A roll-over crash with two injuries prompted I-70 to shut down for two hours Saturday morning. The white pick-up caught on fire, blocking both eastbound lanes near mile marker 131. Two people were traveling in the white truck, one of them was ejected from the vehicle. One person was transported in critical condition, another was in serious condition, according to Boone County Fire Chief. Boone County Fire Chief told ABC 17 News that he believes the white truck lost control, went off the road and flipped over after the driver over-corrected the steering wheel. They don’t know why the vehicle lost control, and he said that part of it is under investigation. The State Highway Patrol and Columbia Police are conducting that investigation and trying to find out what led to the crash and whether another vehicle was involved, but initial reports indicate this was a single-vehicle crash. Emergency scanners went off around 10:30 A.M. and ABC 17 News was on scene shortly after. Vehicles stuck on I-70 e/b were asked to turn around and go against the direction of the highway and re-routed to cross to the westbound lanes through emergency vehicle route. Other vehicles farther away from the crash were re-routed to the outer roads south of I-70 until the lanes reopened around 12:30 P.M.
