Raising the Bar

The Missouri Tigers are stepping their game up in the SEC, by paying up.After being promoted earlier this week, Mizzou Football’s new Offensive Coordinator Josh Henson will be paid $500,000 dollars, while new Quarterbacks Coach Andy Hill will be paid $307,500. With the raises, Henson will be right in the middle of in terms of pay in the SEC. ABC 17 was also told Defensive Coordinator Dave Steckel salary is expected to be bumped up $550,000 sometime in February, making his pay competitive to other Defensive Coordinators in the SEC. Ever since Missouri joined the SEC, an objective has been to raise salaries for assistant coaches. Were told these increases were planned before the beginning the 2012 football season, and were going to be fulfilled regardless of season outcome.Here’s a breakdown of the Top 5 Assistant Coaches nationally:Clemson Chad Morris: $1.3 MillionAlabama’s Kirby Smart $950,000LSU’s John Chavis $911,250Auburn’s Brian VanGorder $875,000 Georgia’s Todd Grantham $825,000*USA Today Sports Study reports the average salary of an assistant coach in a major college is $200,000
