Pedestrian Killed in Accident

***UPDATE FRIDAY 7 A.M.***Missouri State Highway Patrol says Charles D. Streeter, 44, of Springfield, Oregon was the man struck and killed on Highway 40 Thursday night.***UPDATE THURSDAY 8:40 P.M.***Missouri State Highway Patrol says an SUV driven by a 17-year-old was traveling east on Highway 40 when the vehicle struck the pedestrian.The pedestrian, a 44-year-old white male, was pronounced dead at the scene. His name will not be released until next of kin is notified.Troopers say charges will not be filed against the driver of the SUV because she was not breaking any laws at the time of the accident.Highway 40 has since reopened.***ORIGINAL STORY***Authorities have confirmed a pedestrian was struck and killed by a car Thursday night.Emergency crews were called out to Highway 40 near the Midway Travel Plaza around 7 p.m. for a car accident involving a pedestrian.Highway 40 is closed in both directions as Missouri State Highway Patrol troopers investigate. An SUV was parked near the side of the road with front-end damage.The name of the victim has not been released yet.An ABC 17 News crew is at the scene.
