Man Charged in Fatal Accident

*** UPDATED 3:58 P.M. ***Spencer Gordon made his first court appearance today via a video arraignment from the Boone County Sheriff’s Department. He remains in jail with a $200,000 bond.Court documents reveal officers had suspicion Gordon was under the influence of alcohol when they first spoke with him after Thursday night’s crash. Documents say officers smelled alcohol on his breath and his eyes were watery and bloodshot. Police say during field sobriety tests clues pointed to Gordon being intoxicated, and even he admitted to having a drink earlier in the night.Documents show Gordon’s blood alcohol level was .122 Thursday night when the crash happened.In court Wednesday, Gordon didn’t have a defense attorney. He’s due back January 9. *** ORIGINAL STORY ***The Boone County prosecutor filed charges against Spencer M. Gordon Tuesday afternoon for one count of involuntary manslaughter and two counts of second degree assault for the fatal accident that killed 24-year-old Michelle Morrow and injured 23-year-old Michael Tufts and 21-year-old John Kalogeris. Officers say the 20-year-old’s blood alcohol content was over the legal limit of .08 when the 2000 Volkswagon Beetle he was driving crossed the center line causing his car, and a 2000 Ford F150 pickup, to lose control.Impact from the accident caused the pickup truck to hit the median before overturning several times. Two passengers, Morrow and Tufts, were ejected from the car.Gordon’s bond is set at $200,000 cash only.
