JCPD Investigating Shots Fired

Jefferson City police are investigating a shots fired incident Monday night.Police were called to the intersection of Washington Street and West Ashley Street around 11:30 p.m. after numerous 911 calls were made regarding shots fired in the area.Cops say they had responded to the same area earlier for a large group of people making loud noises, but when they arrived for the shots fired call, the group was leaving the area. Officers found several shell casings and believe that at least two subjects were exchanging fire behind houses on West Ashley Street.According to police, witnesses could not or would not identify the shooters. The investigation is still ongoing.
