Grand Jury Indicts Columbia Teen
A Boone County grand jury indicted a Columbia teenager on additional charges for his role in the March murder of another teen.Anthony Graves, 19, now faces unlawful use of a weapon in addition to second degree murder and armed criminal action.Court documents state around 8 p.m. on March 12th, police responded to the area near Trinity Place and Switzler Street. Officers found 17-year-old Deaudre Johnson shot in the chest. He died shortly after at a local hospital.Witnesses identified the shooter as Graves and say the shooting stemmed from a fight earlier at Douglass Park. However, the witnesses claim the bullet that killed Johnson was meant for someone else.Neighbors in the area who knew both Graves and Johnson say the charges are well-deserved, but Graves has insisted he is innocent.Graves remains in the Boone County Jail as of Tuesday night. His bond is set at one million dollars.ABC 17 News tried reaching Graves and his lawyer, but neither was available for comment.
