Fire Leaves One Person Dead

The Millersburg Fire Department confirmed that one person is dead following a Tuesday night fire.Firefighters responded to a house fire in the 4500 County Road 239 at 10:25 p.m.Millersburg firefighters along with crews from North Callaway and Central Callaway Fire Protection Districts battled the blaze and were on the scene for most of the night.Millersburg Fire Department Assistant Chief Jason Bedsworth said emergency responders had a suspicion that someone was inside the home and searched throughout the night for the person. Crews brought in a cadaver dog around 10:30 a.m. and located the body of a man within the home. The victim’s name has not yet been released.The Boone/Callaway Medical Examiner’s office and the Callaway County Sheriff’s Department were also on the scene Wednesday morning. The cause of the fire is unknown.
