Deputies Taser and Arrest Man

Boone County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a man after he held people against their will and assaulted an officer.According to the Sheriff’s Department, 33-year-old Antonio Vaughn had called emergency officials claiming he was the victim of a gun shot. Deputies responded to the 5500 block of Pinehurst Lane around 4:30 a.m. Saturday.Additional calls to emergency dispatchers allegedly said Vaughn was under the influence of unknown substances and in possession of weapons. Deputies then learned that there were others in the residence and that Vaughn was allegedly holding against their will.Deputies say they tried to cooperate with Vaughn, but he assaulted a deputy with a knife. Law enforcement then decided to force entry into a bedroom. While entering the room, deputies used a “less lethal shotgun” and a Taser to separate Vaughn from his weapons.Vaughn was arrested on two charges of felonious restraint, armed criminal action, unlawful use of a weapon, endangering the welfare of a child, assaulting a law enforcement officer, resisting arrest, and possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.He is currently being held in the Boone County Jail on a $28,500 bond. The bond amount for the charge of armed criminal action has not been set yet.The Sheriff’s Department says no deputies or people in the residence were injured in the incident.
