Deputies Search Columbia Home

Boone County Sheriff’s deputies served a search warrant Wednesday morning at a home they believe is connected to criminal activity.According to deputies, several crimes have occurred at the residence at 4380 Southview Drive. They say multiple shots were fired into the home on October 31st, but no one was injured by the gunfire. Investigators believe drug sales were the reason for the shooting.”It’s been the location for a wide range of criminal activity,” said Det. Tom O’Sullivan. ”There was a shooting there on Halloween night and we believe that was related to another shooting that same night on Demerit Drive.”Deputies collected a shotgun that may have been obtained during a recent drug transaction, a stolen motor scooter, a small amount of cocaine and evidence of marijuana distribution.41-year old Lonnie Avant of Columbia was arrested on charges of felony receiving stolen property, unlawful possession of a firearm, and distribution of a controlled substance. He remains in the Boone County Jail on a $60,000 bond. The Sheriff’s Department is asking anyone with information regarding recent shootings to contact the department anonymously at the link below: http://www.boonecountymo.org/sheriff/contactFormTips.asp
