Crews Repair Gas Main
***UPDATE 11:30 A.M***All roads are now open and emergency personnel are allowing people to return to their homes and businesses.***UPDATE 11:25 A.M.***Gas has been shut off from the broken main in Ashland. The superintentant says schools have been checked, and students from both the Middle and High Schools are back in class now. Roads are still closed. City hall and area businesses are still evacuated as crews check other buildings in the area.***UPDATE 11:15 A.M***Ameren is working on the gas main, but officials say it could be several more hours before the area is deemed safe.Ashland is evacuated from Henry Clay at Broadway, to Crump, to Church. MoDot is in the area to help restrict traffic from DD to Henry Clay Blvd.Firefighters are checking the middle school now. Administrators had reported a gas smell inside. Both the middle school and high school are currently evacuated.The roads will stay closed until all of the buildings are checked.***UPDATE 10:30 A.M.***Fire crews on the scene tell ABC17 News construction crews working in the area broke the 6-inch gas line. Area schools are just a block away. They are coordinating efforts to evacuate all students. The middle school is currently evacuated, and the school district is working on a plan to evacuate the high school.Utility crews are on the way.***ORIGINAL STORY***Residents and businesses in Ashland are evacuating in what crews are calling a large gas main break in the middle of town.The main break is at Main Street and Redbud Ln.
