Cops Investigating Shooting

***UPDATE 11:32 P.M.***At this point, investigators do not know what the shooting was about, and can’t say if anyone was being targeted.No matter the target, police told ABC 17 News a shooting like this is dangerous to everyone in the area because a bullet has no name on it.”It’s always concerning when someone shoots into a dwelling or a dwelling is hit by gunfire,” Sgt. Paul Dickinson with the Columbia Police Department said. “It’s a concern to us as well.”A neighbor who wished to remain anonymous said, “You know somebody could have died tonight and it’s just ridiculous that people have to resort to things of this sort just to make a point or whatever the case may be. Who knows what this is over but this is just, stuff is getting out of hand and it’s got to stop.”Neighbors told ABC 17 News shootings like this are all too common in the area. They now hope police can find whoever is behind pulling the trigger this time.***UPDATE 8 P.M.****In a news release, Columbia police said investigators were still canvassing the neighborhood near Quail Drive Sunday night. One residence was hit multiple times in the gunfire.At this time, Columbia police have no suspect information and no injuries have been reported.***ORIGINAL STORY***Columbia police were still on the scene of a shooting and possible burglary in the 2700 block of Quail Drive in north Columbia Sunday evening.An ABC 17 News crew at the scene said there were at least 12 shell casings in the streets. Police haven’t said what caliber shell casings they found, but ABC 17 News learned more than one gun may have been used.
