Columbia Man Killed in Crash
A Columbia man was killed in an early Sunday morning car crash off St. Charles Road.According to police, Benjamin S. Lieteau, 27, was traveling west on St. Charles Road near Dorado Drive around 4 a.m. when he lost control of the car. The car traveled off the left side of the road, hit an embankment and ended up on its side.Officers say Lieteau was not wearing a seat belt and was partially thrown from the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.Investigators believe excessive speed and alcohol may have contributed to the crash. They do not think road conditions were a factor, however the crash is still under investigation.
