City Cites Brookside Complex

The City of Columbia issued a violation order to the construction company building the Brookside apartments on College Avenue.Last week, residents told ABC 17 News they had filed complaints against the complex because construction crews were making too much noise late at night.Brookside representatives said it was not an issue, but the city confirmed crews have been working throughout the night without a permit and that the city has received several complaints. In a letter to Trittenbach Development, the city said the company has been allowing construction to occur after 7 p.m. on weekdays and 5 p.m. on Saturdays. Officials say the Columbia Police Department will issue violations and summons if any additional construction activity is seen at night. In late May, portions of the building were destroyed in a fire. The cause of fire has never been determined.
