City Announces Tree Recycling

The City of Columbia has announced ways for residents to safely dispose of and recycle Christmas trees.Residents can place trees on the curbs for normal trash pickup between December 26th and January 31st. The city says trees do not need to be into four-foot segments and does not need to be stripped of decorations. However, after January 31st, tree must be cut into segments no longer than four-foot length requirement.Residents can also take trees without decorations to public mulch sites on Parkside Drive and at Capen Park. Owners will also be able take trees, with or without decorations, to the city landfill at 5600 Peabody Road.
