Capital Mall Sold to New Company

The Capital Mall in Jefferson City is under new ownership, however the identity of the new owners is still unknown.General Growth Properties, which owns the Columbia Mall, closed on the sale of the Capital Mall on Friday. Its new owners have not been named though.The mall is currently being managed by Chicago-based Covington Realty Partners. The management company says no changes will be made immediately, but they are committed to returning the mall to its “good old days,” according to Steve White, the company’s vice president of property management.Covington told ABC 17 News it will not close the mall or convert it, rather, the company says the mall is a valuable property because of strong anchor stores, national chains and local businesses. White says the mall has been neglected by its large corporate owners for the past several yearsAs of Tuesday, the Columbia Mall is still listed on General Growth Properties’ website as a property.
