Bowers Is Back
There are few players in college basketball that deserve as much respect as Laurence Bowers. Not for his basketball talents — which are indeed considerable — but more so for just the kind of man he is. He’s humble. He’s caring. He’s someone that Mike Anderson once said is the type of person you want your daughter to marry. The day after he hurt his knee a year ago, Bowers read to a class of elementary students in Columbia because he promised he would. If that doesn’t say it all…Bowers is now ready to remind people why he deserves respect ON the basketball court. After sitting out last season recovering from his injury, the senior from Memphis has played two exhibition games to get ready for this year. Looking at the stat line, though, Bowers may be even better than before. He averaged 12.5 points per game on 73% shooting in the preseason while pulling down 5.5 rebounds per game and averaging two steals per game. Laurence Bowers is back. Respect that.
