Boone Hospital Leader Steps Down
Dan Rothery, president of Boone Hospital Center, announced Monday he is stepping down to accept a new position within Barnes Jewish Christian Health Care.Rothery has served as Boone Hospital Center president since 2006.”The past six years have been the most rewarding of my career. It has been an incredible joy to be part of the Boone Hospital family and serve this community as the leader of what is increasingly a nationally renowned organization,” Rothery said. “Moving to this next chapter in my career is a decision I made with mixed emotions. Yet I am excited for the new challenge. I know I am leaving Boone Hospital in the capable hands of an experienced leadership team, a dedicated staff and a talented medical staff.”A nationwide search for Boone Hospital??s next president has begun.In his new role, Rothery will lead BJC Home Care, Corporate Health and Behavioral Health Services in St. Louis. Rothery previously held executive positions in acute, subacute, rehabilitation and home care environments at HealthSouth, the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, BJC HealthCare and St. John’s Mercy Medical Center in St. Louis.As Rothery begins to transition into his new job over the coming months, Boone Hospital Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Randy Morrow will serve as interim president. Morrow was previously interim president before Rothery joined Boone Hospital.Fred Parry, chairman of the Boone Hospital Board of Trustees, thanked Rothery for his service.”Dan Rothery did an outstanding job leading Boone Hospital during a time of growth and change. More than just a great hospital leader, Dan has also been an active community leader in mid-Missouri. He will be missed,” Parry said. “Moving forward, we will be searching for an exceptional candidate with attributes similar to Dan??s so that we may continue to build upon Boone Hospital??s tradition of providing outstanding health care to patients in Boone County and beyond.”Under Rothery??s tenure, the hospital completed its most extensive period of expansion in Boone Hospital history, culminating with the opening of the 128-bed new patient tower in 2011, with all private rooms.Rothery oversaw Boone Hospital’s continual investment in cutting-edge health care technology, including da Vinci surgical systems, Open MRI, a PET/CT scanner, 3D mammography and electronic health documentation.Over the last six years, Boone Hospital has twice been named among the Thomson Reuters 100 Top Hospitals and has earned Magnet status for nursing excellence.
