Body Found in Truman Lake

*** UPDATED Friday 7:04 P.M. *** Authorities used DNA to confirm the body found in Truman Lake is that of a 15-year-old girl from rural Greene County. Khighla Parks disappeared two weeks before boaters discovered her weighted-down body that surfaced in the lake near Warsaw. Crime technicians from the Missouri Highway Patrol determined it was her through DNA, her height and weight also matches that of Parks. Police say the teenager left home four times in the past six weeks. Investigators say the last time she left, Khighla told her friends she was going to a nearby cemetary, but nobody saw her after that. ***ORIGINAL STORY*** WARSAW, Mo. (AP) – The death of a young female whose weighted-down body surfaced in a western Missouri lake is being investigated as a homicide.Benton County Sheriff Rick Fajen says boaters found the body Sunday in the Warsaw area of Truman Lake after it floated to the surface.Authorities would not give details Tuesday about how they believe the young, white female was killed. She’s described as 13 to 20 years old and roughly 5 feet 8 inches tall.Investigators are trying to identify the victim.
