Armed Men Attempt Home Invasion

***UPDATE 6:35 P.M.***Police say two suspects went to the apartment and rang the doorbell. The people living there answered the door and saw the men holding some type of guns. Police say the suspects tried to force their way into the apartment, but didn’t get in.”My roommate went and looked through the peep hole and she saw men fighting, she couldn’t see what exactly what they looked like or what they were wearing, but there was obviously something going on,” neighbor Hallie Ginsburg says.Ginsburg tells ABC 17 News the fight went on for several minutes and was sure someone was going to end up dead. She says they heard men being slammed up against the walls and even their door until the suspects eventually ran away.Police tell us the victims claim they didn’t know the suspects, and they could strike again.”We’ve only had one incident that’s happened and so it’s hard to say if they would go back to that same apartment or even that same apartment building,” Columbia police officer Latisha Stroer says.Police tell us they will be doing more patrols at all of the apartment complexes a little more.***ORIGINAL STORY***Columbia police officers responded to an attempted home invasion at Grindstone Canyon Apartments. It happened at 3101 Old Highway 63 South, just after 1 a.m. Thursday. The victims reported hearing the door bell ring, and opened the door. The resident saw two black males with guns, who subsequently tried to force their way into the apartment. The resident managed to keep the suspects from getting into the apartment, and they fled on foot. Officers also responded to a disturbance call at the same apartment just 15 minutes prior to the attempted home invasion. Investigators are looking into whether the incidents are connected. Police need help finding two black males in their late-teens to early-twenties, between 5’7″ to 5’8″, approximately 160 to 200 pounds, wearing dark clothing.
