Appeals Court Hears Clerk’s Case

The fate of a Cole County court employee hangs remains undecided Thursday night.An appeals court heard arguments today from Brenda Umstattd, the former Cole County Circuit Court clerk, who resigned in May after a state audit found missing funds.Two employees were eventually charged for stealing more than $14,000. Umstattd claims Theresa Klebba should also lose her job. Klebba is still an employee in the 19th Judicial Circuit.A decision could come down in the next two months.
