Accident Shuts Down Providence

***UPDATE 3:30 P.M.***Columbia police say 24-year-old Michelle Morrow died around 1:30 p.m. as a result of the crash.***UPDATE 9 A.M.***Columbia police say a car driven by Spencer Gordon, 20, of Columbia crossed the center line into the lane of a truck driven by Michael Tufts, 23, also of Columbia.Both vehicles spun out of control. The car remained upright, but the truck hit the center median and then flipped several times. The driver, Tufts, and a passenger in the truck, Michelle Morrow, 24, of Columbia were ejected. Tufts and Morrow were taken to University Hospital with life-threatening injuries. A second passenger in the truck suffered non-life threatening injuries. The driver and passenger of the car were uninjured.Police say both drivers are being investigated for alcohol or drugs.***ORIGINAL STORY***An accident at Providence Road near Research Park Drive in Columbia is slowing down traffic right now.Police have closes southbound traffic approaching the accident scene and are turning cars around, having drivers go north in the southbound lanes as necessary.There is no word on what caused the accident or how bad anyone might be injured.
