911 Center Loses Power

Power was restored to the Jefferson City 911 dispatch center Saturday afternoon after being off on and off for about two and a half hours.Police said in a news release that a 34 year-old electrical breaker failed around noon, causing power to go out for much of the building. All phone lines and radios were out of service until about 12:15 p.m., but full service wasn’t restored until after 2:30. In the meantime, a battery backup system reopened 911 phone lines.Additional support was called in from agencies and contractors including JC Fire, CenturyLink, Meyer Electric, Jefferson City IT personnel and the regional Mobile Emergency Operations Center (MEOC).Police said Saturday all systems were functioning as usual after power was restored, but would require diagnostic tests throughout the next week.
