12/3: Record Warmth & Rain

Monday will be another unseasonably warm day as high temperatures climb to the low-to-mid 70s ahead of a cold front which will approach the area in the afternoon. Ahead of this front a few showers are expected to form in the afternoon but will be spotty and light. As the front moves to the southeast it will encounter deeper atmospheric moisture and showers will become more numerous with a few t-storms possible, mainly for areas south and east of HWY 54 during the evening hours. The line of showers and thunderstorms will move south of Interstate 44 by midnight with cooler and drier air moving into Mid-Missouri overnight. Most areas will see a tenth of an inch of rain or less but higher amounts are expected closer to the Interstate 44 corridor where up to a half inch of rain is possible.
