12/22: Christmas Week Storm

We are watching an arctic air mass that will be sliding south into the region for the first part of the Christmas week. Forecast models continue to show a more southern track for a storm system forming in the Gulf Coast states. As this storm and the arctic air collide, measurable snow will be possible in Missouri by late Tuesday into early Wednesday, primarily for areas south of I-44, although light snow or flurries will be possible as far north as I-70.For travelers, the same system will produce snow showers in the Ohio River Valley and East Coast through Thursday, as well as showers and storms for the Southeast U.S. Tuesday through Thursday. Temperatures will be much colder by Christmas/Tuesday and Wednesday, with highs in the low-to-mid 20s and overnight lows in the teens. A gradual warm-up is expected by Thursday and Friday with highs in the low 30s.
