10/12: Severe Potential Saturday

***UPDATE SATURDAY 6 P.M.*** Scattered showers and storms will continue to move from southwest to northeast over the area through the evening hours Saturday. These storms are not expected to be severe, but will have heavy downpours and lightning associated with them. As the cold front moves in from the west overnight, additional storms will be possible. However, due to the afternoon clouds and showers, the severe risk has decreased.An isolated strong-to-severe storm is still possible, primarily along and west of the HWY 65 corridor. This will be highly conditional on what storms can form in central and eastern Kansas and if they can manage to hold their strength as they push east. Any storm that becomes severe will damaging winds as the main threat. Widespread severe weather is not likely.***ORIGINAL STORY***Temperatures will warm into the low 80s Saturday afternoon with southerly winds gusting up to 30 mph. Atmospheric conditions will become unstable during the day depending on how much cloud cover there is over Mid-Missouri. Nevertheless, as a cold front moves through during the evening, strong-to-severe storms will be possible. Damaging winds will be the main threat, however an isolated tornado is possible mainly west of HWY 65. The greatest risk for severe storms will be in eastern Kansas and western Missouri.
