Missouri Military Academy van involved in serious accident

***UPDATE 5:30 P.M.***

A news crew at the scene says ten people were injured in the crash. Two of those injured were airlifted to University Hospital in Columbia.

The van was carrying a boys basketball team from the Missouri Military Academy. The North Callaway Fire Chief says the team was on the way to play in a basketball game at North Callaway High School.


Emergency crews are on the scene of a crash in front of North Callaway School on Highway 54.

Missouri State Highway Patrol troopers say a van from the Missouri Military Academy crashed into another vehicle. Three students from the academy van are injured as well as two other people in a second vehicle.

Paramedics called for two helicopters and several ambulances to be brought to the scene.

There is no word yet on the extent of the injuries or what caused the crash.
