Student Safety Concerns Conitnue
A private security group, J & J Security and Investigations says they want the Jefferson City schools to be safer.The group’s intentions would be to put an officer at each school.The Jefferson City School spokesman, David Luther said, “To say that we haven’t been thinking about it over the last month, is really not an accurate statement at all.”School security has been a concern for many parents, and one security officer says she has six children in the Jefferson City School district, saying, “my kids don’t feel safe.”According to the security group, they said it would be more cost effective than putting a uniform police officer on duty.Security Officer, Alanna Larue said, “We do look the part, we do carry the weapons, we are trained in the weapons, we are trained in hand to hand combat.”Spokesmen, Luther said security is on their mind as their top priority, and they intend on placing cameras in the schools, but he added “as far as actually placing an armed security guard at each one of our schools at this time, that is not part of our process.”Luther said, “we have a good relationship with the Jefferson City Police Department, and will be using their own resources officers as of right now.” He also adds, “we aren’t opposing the group’s help, but are looking at our funding right now.”The private security group will get an opportunity to speak at the meeting this Thursday at 6pm in Jefferson City.
