Police Investigate Shooting

Columbia police officers responded to 119 Mohawk Avenue around 6:30 p.m. Wednesday evening, to calls of shots fired. Scanner traffic in the ABC 17 Newsroom indicated that two residents in the area of the Indian Hills neighborhood had called in reporting that they had heard multiple gunshots, and that a car had been struck by a bullet. Later in the evening, our reporters confirmed with police on the scene that they believe multiple suspects were involved, and possibly multiple weapons. Police say they do not know who the gunmen were targeting, or any motive for the shooting, and the shooters are on the loose. Our crews are continuing to work with investigators at the scene of the crime, and we will update information on this page, as well as in our newscasts at 9 p.m. and 10 p.m. on KQFX and KMIZ, respectively.
