Number of Cattle Deaths Increase

VERSAILLES, Mo. (AP) — A malnourished calf has died several days after being rescued from a central Missouri farm where 15 head of cattle were found dead.The Morgan County Sheriff’s Office says in a news release Wednesday that the calf was in poor health when it and 19 other surviving cattle were removed from the property last week. The removals happened after authorities served a search warrant to check on the health and safety of the animals.The 15 dead animals were found in various stages of decomposition and were buried. The surviving cattle received veterinary care and were transferred to another cattle ranch in the area.The sheriff’s office has forwarded information to the prosecuting attorney for possible charges.
