Marijuana Grow Operation Busted

Columbia police busted a marijuana growing operation Friday afternoon.Officers responded to an apartment in the 300 block of North Eighth Street around 1 p.m. and found 32-year-old Brenner Dawson outside of the residence. Police reportedly could smell a marijuana odor at the front door and saw several marijuana buds in plain sight.After officers arrested Dawson and obtained a search warrant, police found over 70 plants and growing equipment in the home. Cops also seized psychedelic mushrooms and loose marijuana from the residence.Dawson was arrested on two counts of felony possession of a controlled substance and for distribution/delivery/manufacture/produce of a controlled substance.
