Man Guilty in Home Invasions

***UPDATE 7:18 P.M.***A jury found James Woods guilty on all counts Thursday evening. The jury deliberated for less than two hours.***ORIGINAL STORY***The trial of a man suspected in a violent home invasion in Boone County began Wednesday.James Woods, 42, of Laddonia is on trial for allegedly robbing and attacking elderly people in their home. Two separate home invasions happened back in 2011 and 2012.In one incident, police say Woods followed a 72-year-old woman back to home, forced her into the residence with a gun and assaulted her. He then allegedly robbed the woman of jewelry. At the time, he was on parole for a rape charge.On Wednesday, the defense team began calling witnesses to the stand. The trial is expected to continue Thursday.Woods is charged with two counts each of first degree burglary and first degree elder abuse, one count of first degree robbery and one count of second degree robbery. His bond is set at $300,000 and he remains in the Boone County Jail.
