Crews Respond to Lab Fire

***UPDATE FRIDAY 7:37 P.M.***Fire crews say old experiments may have caused the fire at Lafferre Hall. The fire started in a trash can inside a locked classroom. Firefighters also responded to Lafferre Hall in 2011 for a chemical spill scare, and another fire in 2009***ORIGINAL STORY***Columbia fire crews responded to reports of a structure fire at Laferre Hall on the Mizzou campus just before 10:30 p.m. Thursday. Witnesses saw a fire on the third floor of the research lab. No one was in the lab at the time, but students noticed flames and called 911. Firefighters say they found a small fire in the lab, and extinguished it. Crews remained on the scene to ventilate the structure.
