Cops Work Armed Home Invasion

*** UPDATE 11:25 P.M. ***Two more armed men are added to a growing suspect list after the weekend when a violent home invasion happened. The suspects ransacked a home and shot at the resident. It happened in Columbia the 3900 block of South Phoenix road Saturday night.Violent is almost an understatement when it comes to the crime the two men tied up the victim and beat his dog with a crow bar.As police picked up evidence from the victim’s house on Sunday, people in the quiet neighborhood still couldn’t believe the brutal crime from the night before.”Just to see it so close to home for what it seems like no reason that definitely makes you nervous,” said Jason Sickmeier who lives across the street from the crime.Police said the whole thing started with a knock on the door at around nine. When the victim asked who it was, the men lied and gave a different name. “They knocked maybe as a courtesy to see if anyone was home. They were coming in anyway and that definitely makes me nervous,” said Sickmeier. Once the door was open, the victim saw two men wearing stocking caps and armed with guns. While demanding drugs and money they forced their way, in tied up the victim and beat his dog with a crowbar. Finally the victim got out of the house but a suspect shot at him and luckily missed. Police said the suspects ran away with two bags filled with property and the victims roommates said both TVs and computers were missing.The roommates also said the dog was taken to the animal hospital and will be okay.*** ORIGINAL STORY ***Columbia police are searching for two men after an armed home invasion and robbery Saturday night.Police say around 9 p.m., officers responded to the 3900 block of South Phoenix Road. The victim said he heard a knock at the door, and when opened the door, two black men forced their way into the home.Officers say the suspects had handguns and a crow bar. The suspects struck a dog with the crow bar and then tied up the victim, according to police.The victim told police the suspects ransacked the home and demanded drugs and money from him. The victim was able to free himself and run from the residence, but as he was fleeing, one of the suspects fired a shot at him. He was not injured. The suspects then fled the scene with stolen property.Police say the suspects are both black males, around 5″10″ tall, 200 pounds and last seen wearing a stocking cap and black clothing. The investigation is ongoing.
