Columbia's first medical marijuana shop opens

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

3Fifteen Primo Cannabis, a medical marijuana dispensary, opened its doors in Columbia Tuesday.

It's Columbia's first marijuana shop to begin selling to licensed patients legally.

Located at 4003 Ponderosa Street, the state-inspected and licensed operation is owned and operated by Columbia residents.

3Fifteen Primo Cannabis is based out of Columbia and holds licenses for four additional dispensaries and one manufacturing facility in Missouri.

"Everything on our shelves is grown in Missouri,” CEO Jason Corrado said.

According to a press release, since 2003, Corrado has been a resident, licensed real estate broker and mortgage investor in Columbia.

"My family and I are always looking for ways to evolve our community, and we are very excited to provide medicine here," Corrado said. "We have been able to partner with local contractors, artists and vendors to get this location upgraded to a very unique & state-of-the-art facility."

According to the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services, in 2019, most approved qualifying patient applications were submitted by people in their 30's, followed by people in their 50's.

Corrado says 3Fifteen has pre-rolled joints and marijuana itself is available in packages of 3.5 grams. He says there are 16 different strains in house. According to DHSS, patients may purchase up to 4 ounces of marijuana per month.

From June 2019 through November 2020, the state received 87,800 patient applications.

At the same time, 38 medical marijuana facilities have been approved for operation. Of those facilities, 19 are dispensaries and 12 are for cultivation.

The state reported $3,796,404 in medical marijuana sales from the day sales began on Oct 16, to Dec. 18.

On Nov. 6, 2018, 65% of Missouri voters passed Amendment 2 into law, legalizing the medical use of marijuana for qualifying Missouri patients.
