All lanes of Interstate 70 over Rocheport Bridge back open Monday morning

ROCHEPORT, Mo. (KMIZ)

Just before 6 o'clock Monday morning, the Missouri Department of Transportation announced on its "X" account that the Eastbound driving lane of Interstate 70 over the Rocheport Bridge re-opened.

A scheduled explosion that was part of the demolition of the piers from the old Missouri River bridge damaged part of the Rocheport Bridge Sunday morning. A MoDOT spokesperson told ABC 17 News that debris tore up the road in the Eastbound lane, causing both the passing and driving lanes to close.

The passing lane was re-opened over the Rocheport Bridge near mile marker 115 shortly after the explosion. The driving lane was closed down overnight so that asphalt used to repair the road was able to dry.

Westbound I-70 remained open following the explosion.
