Callaway County deputies are searching for Jonathan Bell, 51, who is a registered sex offender. He is accused of absconding from registering as a sex offender. Jefferson City Correctional officials reported that inmate Edwin Jackson was pronounced dead on Friday. Jackson was 82-years-old and serving life without parole for first-degree murder from Grundy County. Jackson had been in the Department of Corrections since 1987. Officials reported that Jackson had died of apparent natural causes.

Osage County deputies arrested Michael Eads on suspicion of forgery. Eads was accused of knowingly stealing checks and allegedly writing them for beer and cigarettes on three different occasions at a local business. Deputies said when they made contact with Eads, he said, “I know why you are here.” Eads admitted to taking the checkbook

Public Works officials announced that a full crew began a 12-hour shift on Monday afternoon. Crews will be treating designated snow routes, particularly hills, curves, bridges and intersections.
