DHSS: Frozen strawberry recall includes Walmart, Aldi and Trader Joe’s brands
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)
The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services said on its social media Thursday that a voluntary recall on frozen strawberries includes brands from Walmart, Aldi and Trader Joe’s.
The recall was announced by the Food and Drug Administration after Hepatitis A infections were reported following the consumption of frozen strawberries. No illnesses have been reported in Missouri.
Nine illnesses have been reported nationwide, with the last being on April 12. There have been three hospitalizations.
Items were distributed to select Walmart, Aldi and Trader Joe’s locations between Jan. 24-June 8.
Items containing recalled frozen strawberries includes:
- Great Value Sliced Strawberries (64 ounces)
- Great Value Mixed Fruit (64 ounces)
- Great Value Antioxidant Fruit Blend (40 ounces)
- Simply Nature Organic Strawberries (24 ounces)
- Trader Joe’s Organic Tropical Fruit Blend: pineapple, bananas, strawberries and mango (16 ounces)
If you think you have any symptoms of Hepatitis A, the DHSS recommends contacting your physician immediately, then contact your local health department to report the case.
Symptoms of Hepatitis A include fatigue, abdominal pain, jaundice, abnormal liver tests, dark urine and pale stool, according to the DHSS.
