MU Health Care offering weekend drive-thru flu shots
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
MU Health Care is offering drive-thru flu shots for adults and children 6 months old and older on the weekends of Sept. 25 and Oct. 2 at the South Providence Medical Park from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
“Each year, hundreds of thousands of people are hospitalized with the flu in the United States, and a vaccination offers protection to keep you and your loved ones from becoming seriously ill,” Christelle Ilboudo, medical director for infection control and prevention at MU Health Care, said in a news release.
If possible, patients will need to wear loose clothing and short sleeves so they can receive the shot. Young children will get the flu shot in the thigh.
All patients will need to review and sign a consent form before receiving a flu shot in their vehicle.
There are other vaccination options available for patients:
- Kids 6 months old and older can get a flu shot at their pediatrician’s clinic.
- MU Health Care and the David B. Lichtenstein Foundation will offer free flu shots to children enrolled in Columbia Public Schools.
- Patients who have established care with an MU Health Care provider can make an appointment to receive a flu shot.
- Anyone age 7 years old or older may walk into a Mizzou Pharmacy location for a flu shot without an appointment.
- Anyone scheduling a COVID-19 vaccination appointment at the Keene Street vaccination site can also get a flu shot at the same time. COVID-19 vaccination appointments can be made online
MU Health Care will not offer the COVID-19 vaccine at these events.
