COLUMBIA, MO (KMIZ)

Phase 1B Tier 3 of the state's vaccine distribution plan will be activated on Monday. Educators, government officials, and communication services employees will become eligible to receive a vaccine.

Boone County hosted its first mass vaccination clinic in partnership with the Missouri National Guard, Friday. The clinic is expected to administer 2,300 doses of the Pfizer vaccine to registered individuals of the eligible populations.

Sara Humm with the Boone County/Columbia Public Health and Human Services, says the clinic is one of the efforts to get those remaining in the current eligible tiers vaccinated as the state moves forward with Phase 1B Tier 3 on Monday.

Local pharmacies and hospitals are preparing for the large group of Missourians that will become eligible to receive a shot.

MU Healthcare plans to host another mass vaccination clinic on March 19 and 20 at Faurot Field, in efforts to get this next tier vaccinated.

Brad Myers with MU Health says 4,600 doses of the Pfizer vaccine will be available at this event. When MU Health made the announcement for the eligible population to get registered for the clinic, all 4,600 appointments were filled within 3 hours.

Myers says the hospital is not sure of it's plans for another clinic or even how much more vaccine it will receive in the upcoming weeks, as the hospital has to wait for the state to provide information on the next vaccine allocation.

According to the state's vaccine dashboard, 18.3% of the state's population has received at least one dose of the vaccine; of that 9.8% has received complete vaccination. The state has administered 1,703,806 vaccine doses. 600,496 Missourians have received complete vaccination.

Boone County alone has administered 62,647 vaccine doses, of that 22,167 people have been completely vaccinated. 22.6% of Boone County's population has received at least one vaccine dose.
