This past weekend saw two new, popular movies hit theaters.

Area movie theaters were expecting to see a big attendance bump with the releases of "Barbie," and "Oppenheimer" releasing on the same day.

According to the Associated Press, both movies ended up bringing moviegoers back to the theaters to watch either, or both, films, with "Barbie" raking in $155 million in North America and "Oppenheimer" racking up more than $80 million in the same region.
