MILWAUKEE (WISN) — The Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office confirmed a heavy law-enforcement scene near South 39th Street and Oklahoma Avenue Thursday afternoon is related to the severed leg discovery at Warnimont Park in Cudahy on Tuesday afternoon.
The sheriff’s office is investigating the case as a homicide.
Neighbors told WISN 12 News several law enforcement agencies, along with the Wisconsin Department of Justice, were at the home on Milwaukee’s south side for hours starting about 3 or 4 p.m.
“Will say it was about 15-20 law-enforcement people out, so it was interesting wondering what was going on,” witness Michael Burish said.
“After you found out what was going on, what was your reaction?” WISN 12 News’ Kristin Pierce asked.
“Well, a little surprised, obviously, but in this day and age, anything can happen in any neighborhood. If it truly is a homicide, I feel sorry for the family,” Burish said.
A person of interest is in custody, the sheriff’s office said.
The Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office is leading the investigation into the severed leg even.
