A man charged with helping the Hong Kong intelligence service in the UK has been found dead

LONDON (AP) — A prosecutor says a man accused of assisting Hong Kong authorities gather intelligence in the United Kingdom who was found dead in a park had previously attempted suicide. British police say the death of Matthew Trickett was unexplained and they are investigating. Trickett was one of three men charged with agreeing to engage in information gathering, surveillance and acts of deception likely to materially assist the Hong Kong intelligence service. Prosecutor Kashif Malik asked at a hearing last week that Trickett be detained for his own welfare because he attempted suicide after being charged. He was bailed and due to appear at a London court Friday.
