WASHINGTON (AP) — Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen says the United States has no desire to break economic ties with China. She spoke Thursday as she began two days of talks with her Chinese counterpart in San Francisco. Yellen and Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng are aiming to make progress on a slew of economic issues as competition has intensified between their countries. The talks are designed to help lay the groundwork for an expected meeting between President Joe Biden and Chinese President Xi Jinping next week. China’s state media laid out Beijing’s major concerns, which include supply chain curtailments, restrictions on high-tech products such as advanced chips, and tariffs on Chinese products.
