RENO, Nev. (AP) — A federal judge has denied a Utah bus company’s bid to block Nevada regulation of routes that run primarily between Reno and Las Vegas but briefly cross into California. The judge in Reno sided with regulators who say their ability to ensure the safety of the buses is in the public’s best interest. Salt Lake Express sued Nevada transportation officials after they seized one of its passenger vans in Reno, leaving 20 passengers stranded. Company officials say it is interstate travel not subject to state regulation. Nevada says they’re engaged in an illegal scheme to evade regulation by making quick trips across the California line at a stop with no customers.
