The National Weather Service in St Louis has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for…
Southwestern Audrain County in central Missouri…
Boone County in central Missouri…
Northwestern Callaway County in central Missouri…
Northeastern Moniteau County in central Missouri…

* Until 145 AM CDT.

* At 1042 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 3 inches of rain
have fallen. The expected rainfall rate is 1 to 2 inches in 1 hour.
Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.

HAZARD…Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

SOURCE…Radar indicated.

IMPACT…Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas,
highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor
drainage and low-lying areas.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include…
Columbia, Mexico, Centralia, Columbia Regional Airport, Hallsville,
Auxvasse, Sturgeon, Rocheport, Murry, Midway, Harrisburg, Kingdom
City, Vandiver, Lupus, McBaine, Hatton and Thompson.

This includes the following State Parks…
Rock Bridge State Park, Finger Lakes State Park and Jewell Cemetery
Historic Site.

This includes Interstate 70 in Missouri between exits 115 and 148.
Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
