Deadline for in-person absentee voting approaches

The Boone County Clerk expects about a 15 percent voter turnout for the April election.

Boone County Clerk Brianna Lennon said she expects Tuesday to be similar to last year’s election, which saw a 15.9 percent turnout.

The deadline for absentee voting in person in the county clerk’s office is 5 p.m. Monday. Lennon said her office will also be open Saturday for in-person absentee voting from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Boone County Government Center in downtown Columbia.

Lennon said it’s important for voters to check where their polling place is online before heading out to vote Tuesday.

“You can look up your voter registration information. Make sure your address is accurate because that’s how you determine which polling place you go to,” Lennon said. “Check all of that out before you go vote at the polls so that you know where you’re going, what you’re going to be voting on and that all your information is correct.”

Cole County Clerk Steve Korsmeyer told ABC 17 News he predicts a 19 percent voter turnout Tuesday.
