We get to enjoy another beautiful afternoon before ending the week on a wet note

WEDNESDAY: Another cool start to the day will end up turning into a warm afternoon. Winds are in the process of turning out of a more southerly direction this morning, and will be picking up later today. We’ll see gusts reaching 25 mph this afternoon, which will push temperatures near 70 this afternoon, under partly cloudy skies.

TONIGHT: A front will be approaching the area late tonight, which could spark a shower or thunderstorm into the early morning hours, but the best chance looks further northeast. With clouds moving in, temperatures only drop into the low to mid 50s.

EXTENDED: More widespread rain moves in during the daytime on Thursday. We’ll be tracking multiple chances for rain all the way through Saturday morning. A few rumbles of thunder are expected Friday and the heaviest rainfall amounts look to be north of I-70 when this system wraps up with 1-2″ expected. This leads to a flooding concern, with rivers likely to feel the effects toward Sunday and Monday. Temperatures cool down this weekend, only topping out in the mid to upper 40s, but recover near 60 by Monday.
