FOUND: Authorities end search for Boone County man

UPDATE: The man reported missing Saturday morning was found, according to the Boone County Sheriff’s Department.

” Michael Smith has been located in Columbia and was just reunited with his family, ” the department said in a news release. ” Thank you to all the first responders, including the Missouri State Highway Patrol and Boone County Fire Protection District, who responded immediately and worked tirelessly to help find Mr. Smith. ”

ORIGINAL: Boone County and state authorities are searching for a man reported missing Saturday morning.

Eighty-six year old Michael Smith was last seen in the El Chappral neighborhood east of Colubmia around 9 a.m., according to the Boone County Fire Protection District.

Drones and K9 units have been deployed to assist with the search, according to the BCFPD twitter page.

Anyone with information on the search should contact the BCFPD, the Columbia Police Department, or their local law enforcement agency.
