Maries County deputies arrest mother of child killed in weekend fire
The mother of a child who died in a house fire Sunday night is in custody, according to the Maries County Sheriff’s Office.
According to news a release, deputies arrested Tracy Ellis, 43, of St. James.
Ellis’ 14-year-old daughter died in the fire on Maries County Road 438, authorities said.
The Sheriff’s Office worked with the Vichy Fire Department and the State Fire Marshal’s Office to investigate the fire.
Ellis is in the Maries County Jail pending formal charges, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
