Popular restaurant in Sunrise Beach goes up in flames

Firefights in Sunrise Beach pulled double duty Saturday morning fighting two structure fires within a few hours of each other.

The Sunrise Beach Fire Protection District had just finished fighting a large structure fire in Lake Ozark when they were called to a fire at the Branding Iron just before 5 a.m.

According to a press release, they arrived within four minutes since they were already on the road. When they got there, they saw smoke showing but when they tried to get inside, the structure self ventilated.

It became fully involved “in just seconds.”

No one was inside at the time, and no one was hurt. They cleared the scene at about 2 p.m.

Several agencies helped fight the fire. The initial investigation revealed the fire was accidental. The SBFPD is working with the State Fire Marshall’s office.

The community is rallying behind the owners of the restaurant by planning a BBQ for March 23. Here’s a link to the Facebook event.
